About EvilEye BellyDance EvilEye BellyDance is a Berkeley based dance company who is committed to perpetuating the art and spirit of American Tribal Style BellyDance (ATS). The members of EvilEye BellyDance have combined their many years of dance experience to test and expand the boundaries of ATS. Their shows are completely improvised, using no choreography, which yields a unique and powerful show every time. They borrow texture, style and flavor from India, the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and beyond to create a mysterious sense of timelessness and authenticity that captivates audiences.
American Tribal Style Belly Dance can most simply be defined as 2 or more dancers improvising together. ATS is a synchronized group improvisational dance form incorporating steps, music and costuming from India, the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and beyond. This unique form of dance celebrates and relies on the bond that forms between dancers allowing us to create synchronized and seamless dances without the use of choreography.
